Safe access to jetty expansion tie-in

Gate Terminal is a JV between Vopak and Gasunie and operates a LNG terminal in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, which is a major access point for imported LNG for the European energy market.

In their objective to expand its LNG terminal with a fourth tanker unloading jetty, Gate Terminal encountered problems with leaking LNG valves on the tie-in point, making safe removal of a blind flange to connect the new jetty pipeline connetion to unsafe and impossible.

Valvetight was asked to support with the DBB-SAVER technology to assist Gate Terminal to provide safe removal of the blind flange in order to be able to safely connect the interconnecting piping to the new facilities. Work preparation for execution has been finished and job is planned in Q3 2019.
