New pipeline under canal
Fluxys Belgium is registered on the Euronext and is part of the Gas Infrastructure Group Fluxys with their HQ in Belgium. With 900 employees the company operates 4.000 km of pipelines, a LNG import terminal with a capacity of 9 BCM and an underground gas storage.
For a planned intervention to take into operation a new pipeline under a shipping canal, Valvetight was requested to safely isolate passing valves on both sides of the canal at the pigging stations. It concerned a single underground ball valve and its bypass on both sides. On each bank, a DBB-SAVER was connected to the body cavity by a 1” drain connection and the bypass making sure there was zero passing of any gas towards the intervention location.
